Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday!

This the first time I've participated in WOYWW. On my desk are the remnants of a card for the CF84FN challenge, Christmas card stuff and my new i-top button maker. I am trying to make Christmas cards as I go along, which is my excuse for being a lazy troll and not clearing it all away!
I haven't done challenges for ages and ages and the first one I entered, at the Play Date Cafe,  I linked the wrong card....duh! If I had a brain I'd be dangerous!
I've been wanting this brad maker for ages because sometimes you just don't have quite the right colour for a brad or a button to match the piece you are working on?   I will have to think about using it though, as it could get quite expensive buying the shells you have to use.
Anyway, that is it now..... NO MORE BUYING STASH.
Well, apart from SU stuff as I am in a club for that and of course, if I see something that takes my fancy in a must have it kind of way........aaargh I need help.....my name is Katie and I'm a stashaholic!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon I hope.

CR84FN

I've done a card for the CR84FN challenge. The colours are black, pale pink and neutral.  The stamp is a Bella, the sentiment is a 'snag em' stamp, the flowers, paper and ribbon are all from my stash.  Short and sweet today!
Thanks for stopping by

Play Date Cafe

I've made a card for the Play Date Cafe challenge, black, white and a splash of orange. There is a direct link in my sidebar.  I don't use the colour orange very often and when I was looking for some orange ink to use I found that I didn't have one that was really orange. I've got distress inks but they looked too wishy washy for what I had in mind. So I had to scrap that idea and went with this instead.
My apologies for the poor picture but it is now dark here and it's the best I could do. The ribbon is a good vibrant orange but it doesn't look it in the photograph. The stamp is Waltzing Mouse, the sentiment is SU and the gems are from my stash.

Thanks for looking

Edited to add: I am so dull, I uploaded the wrong card to the challenge!! More haste less speed and all that

Another Christmas card.

I started this card by embossing the kraft card with a Cuttlebug folder and rubbed a little white ink over the top of the embossing. I can't remember the name of the folder though?
I used Websters Pages papers and the little house was cut from the bottom of one of the pages and I distressed the edges with tea stain distress ink. The snowflake is Sizzex and the sentiment is Hero Arts.

Hope you had a good weekend!

MY DIY TA DAA!!

I said I would show a photo of the DIY clip it up and the spectrum noir pen storage I made and here they are.  The clip it up works very well I have to say. Ok, it isn't the prettiest thing in the world but meh.........I don't care!
Below is the marker storage. I think I said before it's not my idea but I can't remember where I saw it? It was probably here http://craftystorage.blogspot.com/ on the crafty storage blog. Some of the craft areas on there are bigger and nicer than my house!!!
I digress, this was really easy to make, it is made from foam board. I just stacked the pens up and measured how deep and wide I wanted the shelf spaces to be. I used a dab of glue in the construction but I don't think it's necessary and wouldn't do that again. It is all held together with dressmakers pins and it is surprising solid. Can you see the little supports underneath?
They are a bit wonkey I know, but they work. I cut them on a very slight angle so the  whole thing tilts back a little to keep the pens in. Again I don't think I needed to do this as the pens are square but I didn't want to regret not doing later if you get my drift?? I put a few pink Copics at the bottom to test round pens and they stay in just fine. I am going to make another one just for my Copic markers and for my ink distress ink pads. Just to let you know you do need a lot of pins though
Sorry about my drab back garden, not very pretty at the moment is it?

Big kisses

Another Christmas Card

Here's another card I made for Christmas.  It uses a Whiff of Joy stamp and coloured it with Copic markers. The stamp isn't a new one (me being frugal!!)
The papers are a Websters Pages 6 x 6 pad. I made the roses myself without a die (frugal again, could have bought one but didn't, yay me!) I drew a spiral on paper ripped around it instead of using scissors, then crumpled and roughed the edges up a bit, dabbed on some Stickles, a bit of distress ink on the edges, added the  sentiment.
I like it...........job done!

Two posts in one day

Promised pictures!

I took a few pictures like I said I would. I haven't done this for so long, they are not very good  I'm afraid! I have been making Christmas cards and trying to use up old stash. I have tried really hard not to buy more (with only partial success).
On the cards here I used some decoupage sheets I bought at least three years ago.
I was looking for something else when I found these sheets. Do you ever do that, go looking for something and find stuff that you had bought but totally forgotten about......very bad!!
I also found some Kanban stuff from the Christmas before last that I bought from QVC and yes I have bought more Christmas Kanban since then eek! I get seduced by how pretty the ready made images are but truth be told, I don't really like to use them. I prefer to stamp and colour my own images, which is probably why they are still unused.
More money than sense, no actually, just no sense. I do feel bad that I have this stuff but haven't used it yet but I am trying to make amends and these little cards are the start of that.
Anyway, I have absolutely no idea where I bought these from but I do remember they were only a pound a sheet. The papers are from my stash and probably Papermania. The fab little sentiments are from Craftwork cards.
I have just noticed my photos have the date on them, I hate that! I used a camera that my hubby gave me, not my usual little Olympus as the batteries were dead. The hubbys' camera was more expensive than mine but I still prefer my own.
That will do for today I think. Until next time.

Remember me??

Hello remember me?
I haven't posted in ages, too many other lovely blogs to go and look at! I have made lots of cards but haven't taken any photos of them.  I will try and sort that out for next week. I will also take a photo of the 'clip it up' that I made. It works really well, I'm very pleased with it.
I also made some storage for my copic and spectrum noir pens. I 'll photograph that too. I was really, really pleased with that. The idea is not mine, I saw it on another blog but I can't remember where. So simple to make and it's fantastic.
The weather here is awful, rainy, grey and a bit chilly too. I'm away for the weekend to Devon. Luckily the weather is going to cheer up so we should be ok!
So the plan is to take some photos to share next week.

Well kids, I hope the weather is better where you are :)

Waltzingmouse challenge

I made this card for the Waltzingmouse challenge......the week before last!! I didn't realise the entry cut off was the Thursday. It's official, I am a dope!!  Here's the card, not the best photo, the battery in my camera was on its last legs!

See you next time

Ta daa!

Here it is then, the completed clip it up. Not quite as easy to make as I thought but not too bad. It isn't pretty but I think it will be functional. I really need to create some more space and that means getting rid of the plastic storage boxes that house my stamps.

The first problem I encountered was the size of the hole in the lampshade. It was bigger than a 10p piece, much too big for the rod so I cut a piece of MDF, drilled a hole through the centre that was big enough to allow it to spin around the rod but not so big it would fall straight down and glued it to the centre of the shade carcass. You can just see it in the photo below?
There are washers and nuts above and below the shade carcasses to keep it in place.
Now, all I have to do is un-mount all my wooden stamps! I do have some cling stamps to hang on there to see if it will actually work so I will do that tomorrow and let you know how it goes!!
I apologise for the less than professional photographs LOL. You can see my tea mug, my poinsettia and my dogs bed in the photo.....oops sorry! Going off track now but I am so surprised the plant is still living. I bought it the week before Christmas from Sainsburys and I so don't have green fingers!!!

That's it for now

No mojo!

I've been trying to make something today but no luck, my mojo has gone walkabout. So I've had to go back to a card that I made ages ago!
I think I'll go for a wander around blog land for some inspiration!!

The stamp is a Sugar Nellie and the rest is from my stash.
See you next time

Disaster Strikes!!

Today I was planning to have a go at making a home made version of a 'clip it up'.  I have seen these on you tube so I thought I'd have a go. When I say I, of course I mean that my DH would do the making.  I see my role as more supervisory LOL!!
Anyhoo, the weather had other ideas. It is so windy here at present, it is quite scary at times and it just isn't letting up at all.
I do my crafting in a shed in my garden. It is not one of those super duper garden sheds by the way, it is just a 12 x 8 bog standard shed. So, last night it was blowing a gale and the felt was ripped off the roof of my shed. It was raining pretty hard, really windy and I thought all my stash would get ruined or worse still, the whole shed be blown away.  I was really worried  but couldn't do anything about it.  It was hard work to put the shed up, get it all insulated, work top up, shelving, carpet and I really thought I was going to lose it all!
Luckily, when I looked first thing this morning it hadn't gotten any worse. It stopped raining long enough this morning for DH and I took go outside, salvage some of the roofing felt and put it back on.  It is a bit patchwork but hopefully it will do until we get some quieter weather to do the job properly. Using a ladder in gale force winds..... not really to be recommended but shed and stash saved for now.
So no clip it up today but here's a photo of the stuff I bought to make it. There are also some locking nuts to put it all together but I forgot to put them in the photo!

The threaded rod and locking nuts are from B&Q and cost under £10. The lamp shades are from The Range £6 each, the base is a lazy Susan again from The Range £6 and I am going to use door knobs for 'bun' feet, £3 for a pack of 6 from, you guessed it, The Range.
So that's just over £30 for a two tier clip it up.  I will get the clips to hang things from at Ikea. They are quite cheap apparently. To buy a 2 tiered clip it up would cost £87.90 from Storage 4 Crafts! If this works it will be a bargain, watch this space, I'll let you know how I get on.

See you next time kids

New beginnings

New Year new beginnings!
I neglected my previous blog very badly and so I decided to start all over again with a new blog.  I got out of the habit of blogging. Blogging became all consuming and I found I was on the internet every spare moment I had.
So although I will be blogging I am not going to let it become the only thing I do.
Any hoo, I have a little card to show. It's not new but it's one I like, I hope you do too.

I know the stamp is from Sugar Nellie but I can't remember what supplies I used, sorry. Not a very good start is it ?!?

Mental note to self - must do better!

See you next time kids
